The Bastogne Door

6870 Saint-Hubert

Description

In 1659, the French troops set fire to the town, and the fire damaged the Abbey buildings. The state of insecurity which governed then forced the Abbot Benoît Laurentz to rebuild the enclosing wall at the east of the abbey. This defensive construction is fitted with several doors and is the sole remnant of these fortifications.
